Turned when the log of mulberry was still green, as the bowl dried it changed shape from perfectly round to oblong. Also, the rim with the bark intact contorted and the ends pulled up, creating its distinctive shape.
The piece measures 5” at its widest and 3-1/2” at its highest.
Even though it is finished with food-safe linseed oil, it is not intended for food, and it should only be used as decoration. It will look wonderful on a shelf, or a side table. Of course, it would also make a much appreciated gift.
