Maple dish

Spectacular maple dish with a multitude of borer holes.  This piece of timber was an unusual find in that it was riddled with borer holes but still sound.  This gave me the opportunity to celebrate its interesting character.  After turning it, I carefully cleaned the holes with a dental pick and very thin wire.  (A very time-consuming process.)  A few of the holes actually go entirely through the dish!

It can be used purely as a decorative item.  It can also be used to hold dry items, such as keys, jewelry, remote controls and various knickknacks.

It would also make a noteworthy gift.

The dish measures about 9-1/4" x 1-1/2" and is finished with food-safe oil.
